We’ll show you how to download the watchOS 8 beta for your Apple Watch.

Start With the iOS 15 Beta

Just to note, there are two different versions of Apple beta software. The developer beta usually arrives first and, as the name suggests, is only for software developers. The public beta is for everyone else.

The software is identical, the only difference is who it is distributed to.

Before you download and install the latest watchOS 8 beta, your iPhone will need to be running the iOS 15 beta. To do that, head to beta.apple.com on your iPhone. If you haven’t joined the Apple Beta Software Program, select Sign up. You’ll need your Apple ID and password.

If you’re already a member, sign in and select iPhone. Choose the iOS 15 tab and then select the enroll your iOS device link under the Get Started section. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the iOS 15 beta.

Download the watchOS 8 Public Beta

After iOS 15 is up and running on your iPhone, or if you’ve already installed the iOS 15 beta, head back to beta.apple.com. This time, select watchOS.

Under the Get Started section, choose the link that says can enroll your Apple Watch. On the next page, select Download Profile. Doing that will automatically open the companion Watch app on your iPhone.

On the Install Profile page, choose Install. You’ll need to enter the iPhone passcode before the profile is installed. Also, a dialog box will appear to automatically restart the Apple Watch.

To install the beta software, you can head to Settings > General > Software Update on your Apple Watch. You can also go to the companion Watch app and choose the My Watch tab. Select General > Software Update.

To install the beta software, make sure your watch has more than 50 percent power and is connected to a charger.
